Cast: Luke Wilson, Kate Beckinsale, Frank Whaley

Director: Nimrod Antal
While driving late at night, a married couple (Wilson and Beckinsale) end up getting lost on some back roads. Eventually there is some car trouble and the couple ends up at a rundown motel. After getting to their room they come across a VHS tape that shows a murder taking place in the same room that they are stuck in.

I will say that it was a surprise to see an actual horror/suspense movie that didn’t have to resort to graphic violence to try and creep out the audience. It plays out like a cat-and-mouse game between the couple and the killers that are terrorizing them. There are quite a few good scenes that build a lot of suspense and it is a step above the latest horror movies. The movie starts out good with some well done credits that made me feel like I was watching an old Hitchcock movie, but seems to lose some steam towards the last fifteen minute mark.

Rated R for some brutal violence/terror, brief nudity and language.

The trailer of this movie was so good but I was so disappointed when I saw the whole movie. Anyway, maybe I expected so much like with the previous killing/massacre movies ive watch.

This movie was kind of weird. I didn’t really understand it all that much.

The movie should be 3 stars instead of 2 1/5. But its my personal opinion. The best part is when the girl is in the roof and runs for help next day.

I thought this film might descend into the usual slasher type affair, but I was pleasantly surprised. The good guys eventually prevailed.
