Movie Review VANTAGE POINT
Cast: Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Sigourney Weaver
Director: Pete Travis
This film has been advertised for what seems to be the longest period of time ever. I feel like I’ve watched trailers for this for over a full year, maybe not. Anyways the All Star casted film opened tonight. At a glance it has everything you would want in a movie - great cast, interesting idea, car chases, etc. After viewing the film I was disappointed.
The idea and concept of having several views of an assassination is great. Several parties are involved in an assassination of the United States President in Spain, seeing both the terrorists and those trying to stop them. The movie starts off good and I was very into it for the effective opening 15 minutes, but the more the movie goes along the more the plot thickens too much. It seems like twists were added just to add them when they didn’t seem to pan out very well in the end. Aside from the plot going South, the action is done well. We get some intense chase scenes but even those seem to get to be too much.
So my recommendation is to wait for this over hyped movie to hit the DVD shelves because you’ll probably like it more spending only a few dollars vs the box office prices.

THE HAPPENING The Movie Trailer Online
M. Night Shyamalan’s THE HAPPENING the movie trailer hits the web. This will be the latest from the director of Sixth Sense and Signs. Recently Shyamalan’s work has been criticized for not being very good with THE VILLAGE and LADY IN THE WATER. I personally think he is very talented regardless of his last two outings not being very great.
This one stars Mark Wahlberg and is set to be released on June 13, 2008.
I’m a big fan of SIGNS and UNBREAKABLE, so hopefully with this new movie he’ll get back into his groove. Check out THE HAPPENING trailer at Apple - click here.

DVD Review JUSTICE LEAGUE: SEASON ONE

If you are like me and are a fan of Super Hero cartoons, Justice League: Season One, won’t disappoint. The show aired a few years back on Cartoon Network but I never got around to watching it. I recently checked it out on DVD and it definitely stands out above most cartoons of recent.
You get some of the most popular DC Comics characters - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, to name a few. The plots are pretty good, yet sometimes feels like the same old thing. The animation ranges from above average to really good through out. One of the best parts is the voice work featuring many different voice stars and actors. The biggest disappointment was that it doesn’t come in Anamorphic Widescreen format.
This is overall a great cartoon for the kids and if you’re a kid at heart you’ll find plenty to like about this series. I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the seasons.

If you are looking for a good crime drama this one is not to be missed and I agree with others that you won’t stop discussing this film. Definitely one of the best films of the year.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN Review

Cast: Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem
Directors: Ethan and Joel Coen
One of the most acclaimed movies of this past year has been nominated for various awards. The first time I saw a preview for this movie, my reaction was “This will be amazing”. The Coen Brothers have made some very interesting movies over the last few years. The movie follows three main characters with their own way of going about things. The majority of the cast does an amazing job.
I know that what I say in the following sentences may bring some harsh views from others but I do think the movie takes a fast turn for the worst around 3/4 through the movie. Up until that point I’d say this movie is excellent and deserved to Win Best Picture, but I think the movie takes a turn for the worse. I don’t want to go into all the details and ruin anything but I felt that many of the choices of how the scenes are done and pacing of the ending is near bad. I think you need to have a good ending to make a great movie and did not like the ending, that said the rest of the movie is near perfect. So you be the judge, this is definitely one to watch and to talk about.

RAMBO Movie Review

Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Julie Benz, Graham McTavish
Director: Sylvester Stallone
First thing to say is that the movie is more graphic than your average action movie. There are many graphic scenes of violence, the most disturbing taking place in the first half of the film. The movie follows John Rambo to Burma where he is catching snakes in the wilderness. Quickly we have a Christian group wanting to go into the heart of Burma. They ask Rambo for help to go up river. From there chaos comes when the group is attacked while working in a small village by Burmese pirates. From there all hell breaks loose and Rambo goes in with a group of mercenaries to find the captured group.
The movies acting is not very good but if you enjoy an 80’s style action movie with over the top violence I have to recommend it. Stallone does do a good job at showing the violent behavior of both the Pirates and also John Rambo himself. The last half is pure rush of adrenaline and a huge body count. If you are looking for a real deep and well scripted movie you’ll probably be disappointed, but if you are looking for a kick back to the no nonsense blow ‘em up adventure (and can handle limbs, heads, and about everything else exploding) then you will not be disappointed.
