Cast: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, and Doug Jones

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Here is another addition to the great year we’ve had for comic book movies (such as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and coming soon, The Dark Knight).

Here comes a different type of super hero movie, definitely not your average comic book hero.  The films based on the Dark Horse comic have been brought to life by one of the more talented directors of our time, Guillermo del Toro.  A little back story for those that may not know much about the prequel (Hellboy) and it’s sequel - a demon, (named Hellboy by those that found him) is brought through a portal to earth.  Hellboy with his partners, Abe Sapian and Liz Sherman, go to battle against those things that go bump in the night.  This time a legendary Golden Army could be called upon to destroy mankind.

Del Toro’s imagination is truly amazing.  From his earlier films like, The Devil’s Backbone, to one of the greatest fairytale movies ever, Pan’s Labyrinth, he has brought some of the greatest visually story telling to the big screen.  Here he expands even more into the depth of the characters and the storyline.  It is much more different than the typical Marvel/DC comic book stories, which is a nice change of pace.  It is a definite must see for those looking for action and adventure.  If you liked the first Hellboy, you will not be disappointed.

BATMAN BEGINS Blu-Ray Deal

Posted in Blu-Ray Stuff, DVD Recommendations, News by Popcorn Ninja on the July 9th, 2008

I am a huge fan of the re-invention of the Batman series by Christopher Nolan!  Batman Begins just came out on Blu-Ray and you can get it at Amazon for only $17.95 (and if you have Amazon Prime it’s free shipping).  That is a wonderful deal for a brand new blu-ray release.  From the sounds of it the picture and audio quality are top notch.

I can’t tell all of you how excited I am for THE DARK KNIGHT to come out.  So far all the reviews have been excellent and it sounds like it will be even better then it’s near perfect prequel.

If you haven’t seen Batman Begins yet get out there and at least rent the movie…..you will not be disappointed!
