Actor Paul Newman Passes Away
Sad news has been announced that actor Paul Newman passes away at the age of 83 years old. He has been battling cancer and passed away yesterday (Friday). A truly great actor with so many accomplishments will be greatly missed. We will always remember him and his amazing roles in movies such as The Sting, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Cool Hand Luke, and so many more. Thanks for all the performances and memories, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

A real shame. Quite impressive that he managed to have a lengthy career in Hollywood without falling victim to the traps of fame that so many others have.

I have always thought that Paul Newman ways a one of a kind actor. The combination of Paul Newman and Robert Redford made for some fantastic movies. I never knew before he passed away that all the profit from his line of branded food went to charity and will continue to do so. I will be keeping my eye out for thoise products now that I know the moiney goes to a good cause.

Not only was he a great actor but just as good of an athlete and and even better person. My dad spent some years with him back in the day and told me that he wouldn’t hesitate to help someone out. Great guy and he will be missed by many people.

Agreed with SFO Lawyer above - the Paul Newman/Robert Redford combination was amazing! I’d been supporting Newman’s charitable projects for years via his great salad dressings and other edibles. Paul Newman was more than just an actor…more than just a race car driver…more than just a philanthropist…Paul Newman was the kind of man most men aspire to be. He will be missed. Thanks for the memories Mr. Newman.

It always feel bad to lose persons like Paul Newman. The only thing we can do is pray that his soul rests in peace and that can be done by inculcating amazing qualitites that he possessed and spread the love around the world.

Paul Newman led a life of quiet dignity…many of today’s celebrities would do well to imitate him.

Paul Newman was a great actor and activist. it is sad to see him go. He will be sorely missed. All of his movies were classics. He was a classy kind of guy. He was one of the best actors from a time when actors were actually intelligence to truly stand for something.
on November 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 am
I was a great fan and mourn his passing.
on November 5th, 2008 at 9:27 am
I had never even seen a Paul Newman movie until last year - and that wasn’t even really him acting - it was for the movie “Cars” where he was the voice of Hudson. I really loved how he characterized that part. It was after that when I started “Netflixing” more of his movies and I really think he was one of the best. I am sorry I didn’t discover him earlier on, but better late than never. He was an extraordinary person.
on November 11th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Film producer John Daly recently died too. This isn’t a very happy year for Hollywood. Two greats in a year is indeed a big loss to the industry.
on November 12th, 2008 at 9:32 am
Hollywood lost a legend in more then one ways. He was such a stand up guy who had such an impact in both in Hollywood and outside of it. I can not think of a current actor who could be considered in his league for all around great guy.
on November 24th, 2008 at 8:19 am
I will always remember him in The Hustler. What a great movie about pool!

This took sort of a back burner with all the other news going on about the economy and the bailouts. R.I.P. Paul Newman. You were a hell of an actor and probably a good guy too.

This is horrible news.
Thanks to Turner classic movies I was able to catch some old Paul Newman flixks and he was simply the MAN. Cool Hand Luke was one of the best movies I had ever seen, and didn’t feel too dated. It was just great.
I also caught a movie - woud love if someone could help me out with the title, but basically, these guys rob Newman and a bunch of other people. But Newman ends up getting the money back and is trying to bring it back to his people - he played a native man, or at least a white guy who grew up with native people.

You can’t help but admire a guy that was not only an accomplished actor, but he was also a dedicated philanthropist and humanitarian.

You are so right! Paul Newman, who is in his 80’s has stayed so amazingly attractive and sexy! Like fine wine, he’s only gotten better with age. And those eyes are so crystal blue aren’t they???
on April 2nd, 2009 at 11:17 am
I’m still thinking of Paul Newman, in the bunkhouse eating eggs, with George Kennedy by his side with a watch, checking to see if Cool Hand Luke is going to win the bet. I like the line “sayin’ it’s your job don’t make it right boss”. I think Hollywood is running out of really great stars.

I was very saddened that Paul Newman died, he was a great guy for sure. I was happy to hear though… that one of the last things he did, was be at a race track, doing what he loved. That is racing his car around the Lime Rock Track.
Till then,
Jean
