SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE Review

Every once in a while a movie comes along that has just about everything and seems to hit all the right notes. After viewing SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, I can easily say that this is that type of movie.
This is a story about a young man, named Jamal, who lands himself on the Indian version of the hit TV show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”. The big question is if the man is up for answering all the questions, since he has spent most of his life in the slums, hence the name Slumdog Millionaire. The director (Danny Boyle) has made a masterpiece in story-telling. Going from the present to the past, he beautiful guides us through Jamal’s experiences. What helps even more is that the cast of mostly unknowns (at least to us in the US) provide performances that are genuine and effective
This is a movie is perfectly made and includes a little bit of everything for us movie lovers - laughs, suspense, and drama. Probably the most romantic movie you’ll see in years.
This Sunday the movie will be up for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture of the Year and Best Director (Boyle). I can say with no doubts or hesitation that this movie deserves to win big this weekend.
Highly recommended.

Yes, I totally agree with you. Slumdog is very interesting. There is a certain honesty in the movie.
Among the nominees for Oscar, theirs is nothing like “The Reader” (which is by the way a great movie too) or “doubt”. However, they deserve to win too.
on February 25th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
The movie was amazing. I loved how they brought it all together with the flashbacks.
on February 25th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Mumbai has been through hell recently. But Slumdog Millionaire, whose everyman hero is a Muslim, is a wonderful tribute to it and to its people. It is, in fact, a maximum film.

on February 28th, 2009 at 4:00 am
Slumdog Millionaire is co-produced by Celador Films, owners of the rights to the original TV show, and so it functions as a feature-length product placement for the programme, whose apotheosis here came when would-be cheat Major Charles Ingram tried to scam the quiz

on March 22nd, 2009 at 6:26 am
Well i’ve seen this movie last night however I dont think it’s so great as advertised. I mean, it’s a good movie, dont get me wrong, however I think that there are better ones who deserved more wins at the oscars

very fantastic movie ! i never seen such a lovely and atractive movie before….
on April 1st, 2009 at 7:24 am
Just saw slumdob mill and loved it. However, I thought the ending was strange with the music video (it was like the end of hitch). This did not mesh with the theme of the movie.
on April 5th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
what was interesting about this film was that whilst i dont normally like tacky endings and sugary romance, this film was meant to be a fable. that is the romance and sugary-ness was built in to the style - top notch watch!
on April 8th, 2009 at 2:13 am
I think it should be grater movie because it have win the Oscar and i have heard it music that really so fantastic.
on April 8th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
I loved this movie, I give it 10/10. And I don’t have a problem with the dancing video at the end of the movie, it was all perfect!!
on April 10th, 2009 at 6:27 am
Quite enjoyed the film but left the cinema feeling rather depressed.
Didn’t even realise there was dancing at the end! Must have left a bit early.
on April 12th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
I haven’t watched the movie “Slumdog” but after reading this article, I think i would grab a DVD copy of this movie and watch it immediately. The synopsis is interesting and the word “romantic” really urges me to watch it!
on April 13th, 2009 at 2:09 am
That movie had catch my interest, I will definitely grab a copy of that.

I am thinking of seeing Slumdog Millionaire tomorrow. Has anyone seen it and if so, was it good. A quick yes or no answer is fine. You don’t have to provide a review just tell me if you liked it.
on April 17th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this movie, but I loved it. It was really good, and I actually did enjoy the ending.
on April 17th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Wow! a great movie everyone knows that it won a bunch of Oscars
on April 18th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
I loved this movie. There is the rise of modern India’s economy which is known worldwide, but this shows the harsher side of the reality of life in India for the people.
on April 18th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
I liked it… My wife had trouble getting through the early stages where the kids were being brutalized, but all-in-all, I thought it was quite good. I think my only reservation about the movie was that there had been so much hype before I actually saw it, that it could never totally live up to what I was expecting.
on April 19th, 2009 at 10:22 am
They showed amitabh Bacchan as a big big celebrity in the movie and used his name…
and the BIG B actually criticized the movie after its success!!
on April 20th, 2009 at 2:48 am
Really very inspiriting was is one..
on April 21st, 2009 at 10:57 pm
The English version is very good. Expressing the life way outs, difficulties and all significant ideas.
on April 22nd, 2009 at 2:38 pm
I really liked it
on April 25th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
well i like this movie too.
the best part being when takes his chance instead of going in with anilkaporr.
one of rare classics.
on April 26th, 2009 at 2:09 am
Hi
I agree that this was a brilliant film, and I really enjoyed it. I did not really agree with the way it was billed in the UK as a “feel good” movie. My definition for such a film excludes one that features a scene where a child is deliberately blinded!

I loved it! This movie actualy got me kinda interested in Bollywood. I hope they make more of those soon!

My personal taste in movies, and critical acclaim rarely intersect. Slumdog was one of the few that both the critics and I appreciated.

I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to seeing this movie yet. everyone says they like it
what I wonder if this movie is the start of bollywood making it’s way into the mainstream American culture.
it already has a foot hold due to people either from or the children of people form India living in America and the fact that for a while bollywood flicks where an in thing with the hipsters.
on May 12th, 2009 at 7:07 am
I’ve also heard that this movie is great but I didn’t had the chance to watch it yet. I’ll try to download it from the internet if that would be possible.
on May 17th, 2009 at 10:50 am
This is a good movie, no doubt about it. But I don’t think it deserves an Oscar when compared to the Godfather, Braveheart, Forrest Gump or The Last Emperor.
on May 17th, 2009 at 9:39 pm
What a interesting movie. This movie has really made history in the film industry. This movie has got 8 Oscar award it really a great thing for our country. Thanks to share it.

i still have no idea how this film won so many awards. yes it was a good movie but it wasnt a great one.
on June 3rd, 2009 at 6:43 pm
I recently watched this with my girlfriend. I was expecting some sappy love story, but it was actually pretty good. It is just sad that the stars of the movie are still poor while other people profit from their work.
on June 6th, 2009 at 9:10 am
Well, good movie, no doubt about it, however i dont know if it deserved so many awards. There are other much much better who didn’t received as many rewards as this one.
With respect,
Jerry
on June 9th, 2009 at 11:19 am
i liked the film, especially the child actors. however, i think that the accolades that this film received were politically motivated.
on June 16th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Yes this movie was pretty spectacular. It was fresh in every way, a fresh cast of unknowns and a fresh plot. I think that some people are right though, when they say that people will go into the movie with very high expectations, and these high expectations might ruin it a little bit, because nothing can be perfect.
Till then,
Jean
on June 18th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Slumdog was a really good movie. Danny Boyle is a great director who has done some pretty amazing films in the past. This film doesn’t disappoint, that’s for sure. Its tasteful in almost all respects. It provides a realist look at some spots in India, its provides action, love and suspense! Great film.

on June 19th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Yeah, I love the movie too! Very good musical scoring… and the dance scene on the end of the movie is very “Bollywood.”
Patel and Pinto will make a cute couple.
on July 7th, 2009 at 1:12 am
Slumdog is certainly a good film, but I feel it is quite overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, and it’s certainly visually striking, but I can’t quite believe that it won all those Oscars.
on July 7th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Looks like I’m the one and only person in the world who did not saw this movie. Where do I come from??? LOL
on July 8th, 2009 at 12:07 am
I’ve seen the movie and it didn’t appeared to me very interesting. The action is tacking place only in one place, which I think that it is boring.
on July 9th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
bollywood already produced twice movie than hollywood now started to winning oscard. i hope soon they will take over global flim market , if they release english version of all recently released movies.
on August 3rd, 2009 at 9:45 pm

on October 6th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
Very good movie. I do feel bad for the child stars who end up still living in poverty. It doesn’t seem right.
on October 9th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
After all the hype that followed the release of Slum Dog Millionaire I fear my expectations where to high as when I saw it in the theatre in Dubai I felt slightly let down - I think I would rather have spent the time paying a visit to some Dubai escorts instead of sitting in that theatre.
on October 13th, 2009 at 4:00 am
which I think that it is boring. think I would rather have spent the time paying a visit to some Dubai escorts instead of sitting in that theatre.
on October 31st, 2009 at 3:52 pm
Most films never live up to the hype surrounding them, and this was no exception - but it was still a very good film.
