HEATH LEDGER Wins Best Actor in a Supporting Role
It’s official Heath Ledger wins Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Ledger’s performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight brought a whole new level of villain to the screen. I thought The Dark Knight should have been nominated for Best Director and Best Picture, but tonight I’m glad that Ledger was honored with his brilliant performance.
He will always be remembered.

I agree. Heath was brilliant in The Dark Knight. It was a bitter-sweet win. I thought it was wonderful that his family was there to accept the award. Bravo, Heath!
on February 23rd, 2009 at 12:33 pm
It’s sad how they pay this much attention and respect to an actor after his or hers death. No doubt he was a good actor, but undoubtedly it would have made his life more fun and nice.
on February 23rd, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Congratulations for winning the best actor in a supporting role but i do not like or big fan of him and for me he is an average actor. But Dark Knight is really nice movie it is the my best movie in my favorite list.
on February 24th, 2009 at 2:02 am
Congratulations for winning the best actor in a supporting role. I am not a very big fan of him. For me he is an average actor.
on February 24th, 2009 at 6:56 am
It’s amazing, hollywood really doesn’t want to forget him. He has been gone for a while now. I guess it wouldn’t be appropriate to mention the movie without mentioning him.
on February 24th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
I’m very happy because he deserved it.
on February 24th, 2009 at 6:33 pm

on February 25th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
It was very good experience to see that Heath got the Oscar, which he deserve it.and the most wonderful aspect was that the whole family was there to collect the Oscar.
on February 26th, 2009 at 4:43 am
He was an amzing actor and he shall be missed. I don’t think anyone doubted that Heath Ledger would win an Oscar. You know that they like to give them not only for the specific part but rather for everything surrounding it.
on February 26th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Amazing performance!!!
on February 26th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
I’m not saying he didn’t deserve the award, but I find the similarity between heath and Biggie/Tupac to be erie.
I don’t think any of them were really that well respected in their fields during their lives as they were after their deaths…
It’s one of those absence makes the heart grow fonder type things…
on February 27th, 2009 at 3:52 am
One of Australia’s finest actors. RIP.
on February 28th, 2009 at 3:19 am
he acted very brilliant acting. He is also responsible for this prize.
I am happy that he got it.
on February 28th, 2009 at 6:26 am
We always appreciate only Leading actor and always neglect the work of supporting actor, its really bad.
on March 1st, 2009 at 10:26 am
Congratulations for Heath Ledger and this is a Good Appreciation from hollywood. He was still young when he died. And He acted very well as the Joker in The Dark Knight. He also won the award at the 66th Golden Globe Awards ceremony telecast on NBC on 11 January 2009 with Dark Knight Director Christopher Nolan accepting on his behalf. Bravo.

This is a story about a young man, named Jamal, who lands himself on the Indian version of the hit TV show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”. The big question is if the man is up for answering all the questions,
on March 3rd, 2009 at 9:12 am
His role in the Dark Knight was by far the best performance he had ever made and he will alwayd be remembered for it
on March 3rd, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Too bad he wasn’t able to receive the recognition when he was still alive. But all the same, he deserved it.
May he rest in peace.
on March 3rd, 2009 at 8:42 pm
i loved him in the movie. he was mesmerizing. this ability to put himself into that character so well is simply amazing. you don’t see much of that caliber in films today. BUT. the one thing i do wish was that i wished he hadn’t died, not for the obvious reasons, but because now people will say, “oh… he only won because he died.” makes me sad.
on March 3rd, 2009 at 11:13 pm
He deserve that you know it very well. It’s all the magic of his fantastic performance in dark knight. Obviously he don’t forget that, actually he don’t want to forget that.
on March 5th, 2009 at 5:51 am
Well he was pretty awesome in this film and he did throughly deserve it
on March 6th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
What was amazing to me is that he can go from a sensitive role like in Brokeback and switch over to an amazing villian in Batman. He deserves it. Definitely a movie for the DVD collection!
on March 6th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
another thing that bothers me about all this is the quote, “you and me are destined to do this forever.” sooooo…. leads me to believe there were at least 2 more joker movies that weren’t planned yet. so much emotion died with this man.
on March 7th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
I knew he would win, it is well deserved! He played a very good role as “The Joker”, I think he would have been propelled into a whole new celebrity class if he hadn’t died.
R.I.P
on March 9th, 2009 at 3:37 am
Indeed he is real hero not only in the silver screen but in the real life.
on March 10th, 2009 at 1:11 am
The new ledger is sponsored for its good and unique content. I like it. I would like to congratulate the award winning team as well.
on March 12th, 2009 at 8:14 am
He was just great!! he earned it
on March 12th, 2009 at 9:38 am
The 28-year-old character, who died from an accidental drugs overdose a period ago, is only the sec director to obtain a posthumous Award after British-born Continent Apostle Finch won for Cloth in 1976.
Record had already won a collection of manufacture honors, including a Bafta, Metallic Sphere and Impede Actors Guild honor, for his lauded action in the Christopher Nolan-director mirthful assemblage pic and an Award win was wise near a presented onwards of Dominican’s affair.
on March 12th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
I agree. He was really awesome and he really deserved what he got. Keep it up Heather
on March 13th, 2009 at 4:35 am
Heath Ledger was amazing in this movie but I did not think the movie was amazing. He deserves the best supporting award!
on March 13th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
It’s sad that an actor has to die to get recognition for a great role. Even though he did in my opinion an exceptional job portraying “The Joker” He probably wouldnt of gotten the attention if he was still alive.
on March 14th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
A little bit like James Dean.
Great actor and the Dark Knight is one of his best roles, if not the best. This needs to be compared with Broke Back Mountain of course. Both are difficult roles. He was a real cool guy, too bad he left us so soon.
on March 16th, 2009 at 4:42 am
Both Dark Night and Ledger are great ,
I never tend to compare the master peaces..This is not my prerogative,
But I feel more for Dark Night
on March 16th, 2009 at 8:35 am

on March 31st, 2009 at 9:21 pm
It was him whom deserve it. Atleast Oscar has done the right thing
on April 2nd, 2009 at 12:34 pm
An amazingly real performance by Heath Ledger as the Joker. We lost focus and forgot who he was, he was just the Joker. Not like Brad Pitt who always stands out as himself. There was nothing comic-strip like as when Jim Carey does this role, not cartoonish at all. This is the first adult version of the Batman series I have seen.
on April 6th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
I have always loved Heath Ledger in all his works. He broke my heart in Monsters Ball. It saddens me to have lost him to drugs. I work in a drug rehab and try to get others to learn from his tragedy. His was a life cut short as are so many others who are not famous. Drugs are such an escape, to numb you from whatever you don’t want to face. I can not imagine what he was facing in his life where he felt he needed drugs to get by. I’m sure he would want others to learn from him so they can live the dreams the see in their future.
on April 7th, 2009 at 10:05 am
great actor
on April 8th, 2009 at 12:22 am

on April 8th, 2009 at 1:29 pm

on April 13th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
Yeah, he was really great he portrayed his role magnificently.
on April 15th, 2009 at 12:28 am

Heath Ledger - What a tragic loss of talented actor

He deserves to win an award. Well done Heeath Ledger. You are a great actor.
May You rest in Peace.
on April 20th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
I was simply amazed at Ledger’s performance as the Joker. He made the Joker truly frightening and psychotic just like he should be. I loved Jack Nicholson as the Joker, but he doesn’t hold a candle to Ledger as the greatest Joker ever.
on April 22nd, 2009 at 10:29 pm
To be good at doing a supporting role needs more talent than main charactor. It’s not always like that, but needs more skll and experiences.
on April 23rd, 2009 at 12:37 pm
I’m his fan…
on April 23rd, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Thanks for sharing. Great post
on April 26th, 2009 at 6:19 am
It is well deserved. He did a tremendous job as The Joker and also this is not the only great performance he did.
on April 28th, 2009 at 2:01 am
How could he not? I was like 90% sure he’d win. He didn’t have a lot of competition and since he died it was the last chance for the academy to award him.
on April 28th, 2009 at 11:12 am
Of course, the Oscar is a nice addition to the many other awards Heath had won.
on April 29th, 2009 at 2:42 am

If he wins for his role as Joker, will it be nothing more than a sympathy win for the fact that he is dead. Yes, he gave a really good performance as Joker, but an Oscar?
on May 30th, 2009 at 7:33 am
im glad he won an oscar and all those people saying its a sympathy win, go and watch the dark knight again you idiots
