TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN Movie Review

Director: Michael Bay
Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson
One of the most anticipated movie of the year 2009 is the sequel to Michael Bay’s adaption of the 80’s cartoon Transformers. The first movie had many flaws but sported some great special effects and a likable lead character. My main complaint about the first movie is that there was way too many human characters, therefore taking away from focus on enough of the robot characters. Unfortunately with this sequel we get more human nonsense.
Yes, the Autobots and Decepticons have more screen time but that’s only because the runtime checks in around a tiring 150 minutes. The problems with the first one are expanded on in this outing. More stupid characters and corny lines fit into this lengthy film. Understand I am a fan of the cartoon and I realize that a movie based on an 80’s cartoon isn’t going for Oscar-worthy performances or a plot that has to always make a whole lot of sense, but I feel insulted after leaving the theater.
I need more then just loud noises and some great special effects in my movie. Even the action is drawn out with Bay’s sweeping camera shots and slow motion. Characters appear and disappear when needed. Another problem is that the humor is hardly ever funny and crude at that. All these factors get old very quick. It’s not too often that I look at my watch hoping for an ending in a movie, but I did during this film.
Aside from an action sequence in the woods featuring Optimus Prime, I can’t say there was much I liked about this movie at all. This mess is one to avoid.
Popcorn Ninja
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material.
Runtime: 150 mins

The Transformers movie didn’t really turn out the way everyone had hoped.

Its really a great concept and a nice movie with interesting theme and ideas.
on August 24th, 2009 at 7:45 am
I did not like it either, I prefer the first one.

I haven’t seen this movie, nor do I want to.
This review pretty much confirmed my suspicions.

Well, I gotta say I liked it! But maybe that is because I don’t know the original 80’s cartoon and didn’t expect too much.
on August 27th, 2009 at 3:05 am
It was an excellent movie.. Action was just fantabulous.. amazing action. Megan fox was absolute hottie in the movie. Autobots were just amazing. Really good movie for people who love action.
on August 27th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
I also was disappointed by the first movies. I mean we are attracted to this movie for the robot characters, so ease up on the humans. Also, 150 minutes is way too long for a weak plot movie. You would think they learned their lesson with the first attempt.
on August 27th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
The same thinking is here. I also don’t like new one in compare of first one.
on August 28th, 2009 at 3:04 am
I love to see your post calm! like trees that never bear to be cut by anyone.
on August 28th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
I don’t like , I think michael bey should make better movie than this ,
thank you for post , regards
on August 30th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
It could be better. I don’t like. Thank you for post.

If I’m going to shell out $9 for a special effects movie with robots, that is what I expect to be entertained with. Usually, sequels are also expected to improve upon the first movie. Neither one of these things happened in this case. Let’s pray that they aren’t considering yet another sequel here.

I thought Transformer 2 was great. In my opinion it was much better than the first one from the actions perspective. Prime sucked in the first one and he was awesome in the second one.

Thank you, you answered the question I have been searching for which was whether or not to place keywords when blog commenting.
on September 1st, 2009 at 1:31 am
I prefer the 1st movie as well. However, after you’ve seen the first one you should watch the second one. In a Cinema, because of the big ass screen and awesome sound. The special effects were still awesome. The story line was just sucky (not to mention very predictable). They shouldn’t have included those two ‘home boy’ autobots.

The Transformers movie didn’t really turn out the way everyone had hoped
on September 1st, 2009 at 8:29 pm
It may actually confuse you. The movie is set in its own continuity and is totally unrelated to anything that has come before. There are new characters, and old ones have been changed significantly.
on September 2nd, 2009 at 3:20 am
Really It is an excellent movies. I have seen this movie.
on September 2nd, 2009 at 12:11 pm
Thanks for this review. Now I know to wait for this one to come to dvd before watching it. Transformers has so much potential as a movie, but unfortunately they failed somewhat on the implementation. The problem is that all the good stars that should be in this movie are too old so that they missed the transformers craze back in the 80s. So you’re left with Shia whatshisface and Megan Fox. Before filming even starts, the movie is destined to be a B movie. All the loyal transformers fans boost the blockbuster ratings despite how lousy the movie is.

I think it’s a good movie if you just want to see cool robots destroying each other. There are many inconsistencies, though. The climax of the first movie shows the robots fighting in the city. However, in the second movie, the government try to hide the fact that any robots existed and did such things, and that it’s just a conspiracy theory. How could they possibly cover that up? And transformer babies? hmm…
on September 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 am
Definitely, the first one was much better than this one.
on September 3rd, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Didn’t like it, too much confusion!!!!
on September 3rd, 2009 at 8:43 pm
I actually like this one…not as good as the first but still good.
on September 4th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
I think its a average movie but i like this movie.
on September 5th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
I haven’t watched the movie yet. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews….I guess I’ll wind up watching it though because I am curious
on September 6th, 2009 at 1:03 am
The first transformers movie was awesome!
on September 6th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
I like the movie in a way. The only thing about the movie was the action scenes were too fast. If they could just slow it down a little bit, it would be a lot better moive.
on September 6th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
I’m not at all like the second episode of Transformers. The scenario was much softer than the previous
on September 6th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
I knew these movies would get tired and burn out quickly. Considering the first box office gross, you’d think that they would invest a little money in a solid plot and script…
on September 8th, 2009 at 2:58 am
I did not like it either, I prefer the first one.
on September 8th, 2009 at 9:38 am
i didnt really dig that movie that much… the first one was way better.
on September 9th, 2009 at 8:44 am
so this was one of the first movies i saw this summer. and really the worst one i saw. How does one justify 2 and a half hours of bull shit. Oh right cause it turned a profit go figure!!!
on September 10th, 2009 at 9:51 pm

on September 11th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
Despite quite a few negative reviews I actually really enjoyed this movie, even more so then the first one. I was actually surprised at how good it was when I saw it because of all the negative things I heard..
on September 12th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
hey this was a good movie and worth the money. other then those two idiot robots that first made up the ice cream truck they went a little on the childish side.
on September 14th, 2009 at 3:36 am
It was not as good as I thinks about this. My money was in van to see this movie.
on September 14th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
I bet this movie will look really good on a 50-inch LCD TV! Cant wait!
on September 14th, 2009 at 11:44 pm
I gotta say I liked it! But maybe that is because I don’t know the original 80’s cartoon and didn’t expect too much.
on September 15th, 2009 at 4:21 am
i have ambivalent attitude toward it..
on September 15th, 2009 at 6:09 am
I never saw the big deal with the first one, this just looked like more of the same crap.
on September 15th, 2009 at 11:48 am
I respectfully disagree with your rating of this movie because an 80s comic movie is going to be just that full of cheesy lines and they need to have humans because the cartoon had them as well
on September 16th, 2009 at 11:48 am
The second part is much worse than the first movie.
on September 16th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I didn’t like the second transformers. Too much focus on developing characters that talk like rappers as opposed to a strict focus on an engaging plot. If that movie didn’t have many witty jokes here and there, it would have even been worse.
on September 17th, 2009 at 12:48 am
The first one was definitely better.
on September 17th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
Yeah, this second installment is not as impressive as the first one. Too many lenthy human dialogues. Megan Fox is not as cute in this sequel as in the first.
on September 18th, 2009 at 9:01 am
thank u very much
good tophc
on September 20th, 2009 at 9:30 am
The sequel really disappointed me. The special effects are great but I thought it really moved the franchise off the traditional story line.
on September 20th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
I didn’t see this movie. I’m only a fan of the cartoons.
on September 25th, 2009 at 2:29 am
i kinda hated it, these guys just blown the thing off by putting many semi action kind of scenes . the comic concept is lost somewhere
on September 25th, 2009 at 6:45 am
I didn’t see this movie
on September 25th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
I much prefered the first one then this. Hope he makes up for it with the third.
on September 29th, 2009 at 6:46 am

the “transform” special effects is unthinkable, wow.
on September 30th, 2009 at 4:14 am
The first one of Transformers was really better.
But I like this one, too!
on October 1st, 2009 at 1:57 am
I haven’t seen this movie, nor do I want to.
on October 1st, 2009 at 7:40 pm
I really did enjoy the second Transformers except for one reason…the extremely lame and corny jokes. For a movie so focused on action ans special effects I felt the jokes that weren’t even really funny really did take away from the movie as a whole.
on October 2nd, 2009 at 4:35 am
This movie is really awesome. I’ve watched it and i’m amazed. The effects are so great and the actors and actresses as well. This is one of my favorite.
on October 2nd, 2009 at 5:03 am
Super coll Transformers 2
on October 3rd, 2009 at 1:03 am

on October 3rd, 2009 at 4:19 am
This movies better than first transformers movie. Megan Fox
on October 7th, 2009 at 11:45 am
I watch Revenge of the Fallen often, I think it’s better than the first one, it should the humanity in machines, and what about Megan Fox……….
on October 10th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
I’ve been waiting for The Decepticon’s strongest team, The Constructicon to show up
on October 11th, 2009 at 12:08 am
I think the first movie better then this..But to be honest…i love this couple of movies..I hope the third one will come out soon..
on October 11th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I’ll watch any movie that stars Megan Fox, and I’ll watch it more then once.
on October 17th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
I loved the movie. I remember watching the cartoons with my little brothers when we were all younger. Yeah the movie is a little different then we all thought it would be, but it was still great. I just want the language to be cleaned up. It was never like that in the cartoons nor int he first movie. Clean that and the sleezy girls and it would be great.
on October 21st, 2009 at 12:44 pm
My kids loved the movie
on October 22nd, 2009 at 11:38 pm
Hi
Transformer is a good movie & the action is awesome.

It was an excellent movie.. Action was just fantabulous.. amazing action. Megan fox was absolute hottie in the movie.
on November 3rd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
That is really disappointing that this movie was not better. I have not seen it and now I probably never will. I loved Transformers as a kid and now they have turned it into something completely different.
on November 30th, 2009 at 6:54 am
I think that the second movie better than the first, much better visual effects, actors are playing to the level above and YES, Megan Fox was absolutely hot =)))
on December 3rd, 2009 at 7:52 am
I agree with the majority of the comments, Transformers 2 was nowhere near as good as the first. This one was too long and drawn out. I just wanted to see Megan Fox.
on December 30th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
ı think the film is very good because with hight teknologie production
transformers 1 was bether as 2
